2004 South Carolina Champion of Excellence Award Winner Announced

The South Carolina Quality Forum, administrators of the Governor's Quality Award, the Milliken Medal of Quality and the Champion of Excellence Award proudly announces Destiny Pattillo as the recipient of the 2004 South Carolina Champion of Excellence Award.  The award recognizes any South Carolina resident who is widely recognized and who was able to ignite desires in others for the unending quest for quality.  This person is from within and not the leader of the organization.  They serve as a spark plug and guiding light in the organization’s quest for excellence.  The Champion for Excellence is a constant resource that helps empower and equip others in the quality principles.

Destiny Pattillo, BSN, RN, is the Director of the 6 East Unit at McLeod Regional Medical Center, the 2004 Governor’s Quality Award recipient.  Pattillo oversees the general day-to-day operations of the Medical-Surgical Unit, and she provides leadership and direction for the 65-member department.  She also handles recruiting and staffing for 6 East and arranges educational trainings for staff.

“I’ve always wanted to advance in management at McLeod and I’m real excited about the opportunities for me on 6 East,” said Pattillo.  “In addition, the quality of patient care is very important to me and I’m proud to be in an organization that upholds these same values.”

Dr. Harry S. Hertz, Baldrige National Quality Program Director presented the award at the annual conference October 4, 2004.
